Let Tamaki Heritage Experiences take your clients on an extraordinary journey through Maori culture, mythology and our story of creation. The Realm of Tane is a dramatic blend of guided tour, character theatre and cultural storytelling relayed across a series of magical indoor sets including an indoor garden, cave, meeting house and theatre – right in the heart of Rotorua City.
By day this is a one hour experience. By night the timings stretch to accommodate special corporate events. For cocktail functions within our torch lit Rotorua garden, to small intimate banquet dinners celebrating the delicacies of our ancestors, this is a magical environment.
Structure Layout

Open-plan Foyer Entrance
- Usage: Partners programmes, exclusive high end dining experience, cocktail functions, presentations, welcome speeches.
- Capacity: 150 standing, 80 seated, see Set 1 for larger functions
- Realm of Tane performance has a capacity of 50 pax per show
Theatre 1
- Themed, theatre lighting, projector, audio, electronics
- Usage: themed education, see Set 2 for larger functions
- Capacity: 80 seating
Indoor Native Garden
- Winding cobble path through native plantation, ponds, waterfalls. Theatre lighting, audio, PA
- Usage: Maori food and medicines programs, cocktail function, see Set 3 for larger functions
Large Theatre 2
- Theatre lighting, projector, audio, PA, 10 x 5 large screen rear projection, butler’s pantry
- Usage: cocktail function, presentations, themed movie night, big screen sports night, exclusive themed dinner, exclusive function, see Set 4 for larger function
- Capacity: seats 120 in tiered seating arrangement or 30 in exclusive dinner
Large Dining Area / Restaurant
- Set in indoor tropical garden, waterways, performance stage, theatre lighting, audio, PA , licensed bar, full kitchen facilities, garden seating

Five electronically heated and cooled indoor sets including a themed traditional “Hangi pit” are located right in the heart of the geothermally active government gardens. Theme your private, exclusive Rotorua function to your tastes, or let us put together various options. The Government Gardens are easy walking distance to the Blue Baths, the Polynesian Spa and the Lake Rotorua lake front, for joint theme functions. The venue is also close walking distance to most hotels and Rotoura city centre.
