Programme Outlines
Rotorua
- Classroom introduction - receive a copy of “The Chronicles of Uitara” novel as your pre-visit resource.
- Attend “Journey of Ages” in Rotorua, and discover how role, focus, action, tension, time, space and historical truths are covered through dramatic play
- Discover how and why poignant portions of the re-enactment are pulled from the Novel “The Chronicles of Uitara”
FOCUSING QUESTIONS
- How does drama fit the purpose of historical contexts and messaging at Tamaki Heritage Experiences?
- How is drama used in this instance and how does this reflect our cultural diversity?
- Using Tamaki Heritage Experiences as an example, explain how drama serves a purpose in community and beyond.
- LEVEL EIGHT: Analyze how drama used in this context interprets and challenges social and cultural discourse. Students have the opportunity to evaluate the performance seen and submit papers to Tamaki Heritage Experiences’ Cultural and Artistic Director for input and feedback.
