The Realm of Tane Story
The story begins on the steps of a meeting house. We will lead your students back to the beginning of time where Maori storytelling blends with subtle technology, to relay the creation story – how Maori believe the world began.
Trace the star path our old people, followed across Te Moana Nui a Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean and understand the courage required for their migration to Aotearoa New Zealand. Learn about the plants they discovered and understand the changes they made to survive in a radically different environment, upon arrival in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Feel the impact European arrival had upon Maori – and through the eyes of the young woman, meet some of our heroes, unravel the events, the challenges and the experiences Maori have journeyed through, to emerge within this century with dignity intact and a real hope for a strong future.
