Bringing Learning to Life
|
Tamaki Heritage Experiences collection of acclaimed tourism products combined with our knowledgeable trained staff, promise quality learning experiences, richer understanding, and memorable encounters for primary, secondary and tertiary students enrolled in any school or learning institution.
The programmes and experiences we have created provide hands on, interactive encounters that serve to enrich the Curriculum Framework within which you exist, and provide quality learning experiences for students outside of their classroom environment. The practical learning we supply in authentic historical contexts serves to enhance the theoretical learning that teachers provide inside the classroom. We guarantee your students will remember their time with us long after their visit.
Our company’s mission is to bring our history and culture to life. And by providing these experiences for students – we also bring learning to life.
Our commitment to enriched learning experiences is enhanced by the offer of pre- and post-visit support information supplied via email or hardcopy, along with interactive discussions/feedback between teachers and our staff to support effective learning.
At Tamaki Heritage Experiences, we support the Ministry of Education’s three vital outcomes:
- Effective teaching;
- Family and community engagement in education; and
- Assurance we are a Quality provider
For further information on our company, our experiences and our curriculum links to the education framework, please review the following pages.
Special Resource Offer
All classrooms who visit a Tamaki Heritage Experience will receive a FREE Copy of our Novel printed by Penguin Publishing – “The Chronicles of Uitara”, as a valuable classroom and learning resource.
Education Programmes
At each of our experiences in Rotorua, Christchurch (and very soon Auckland), and in each of our education programmes, Tamaki Heritage Experiences strive to embrace the five competencies that
the New Zealand Curriculum identifies as key to learning:
- Thinking
- Using Language, Symbols, and Texts
- Managing Self
- Relating to others
- Participating and Contributing.
“People use these competencies to live, learn, work, and contribute as active members of their communities. More complex than skills, the competencies draw also on knowledge, attitudes, and values in ways that lead to action. They are not separate or stand-alone. They are the key to learning in every learning area.” (Ministry of Education).
Most of the subjects and curriculum framework fit snugly into our existing evening programmes, so in most cases, we do encourage all classes that can to visit our regular evening experiences for which we have special student rates. We understand that this is sometimes not possible. In those instances, we do offer a selection of daytime programmes for students; which you also will find on the following pages.
