Prologue
The Journey of Ages is shared across several hundred years, six key chapters and six stunning sets, including a massive, ancient Tawa forest village. In a time before European influence, myths and legends were formed, tribes are created, warfare is rife, ancestors become gods, and the evolution of a new people begins to take shape. The story follows the gladiators of the South Pacific, living in a pre European village, set within an ancient forest. This village is the home of Uitara, the child. Follow Uitara as he learns the arts of a warrior, the communal importance of a tribe, and the means of survival. It is here young Uitara takes his flight from his people and joins the fearless musket warrior...Te Ao Huri.
This lively Maori cultural performance is based on a true story, real characters and actual events, each coming together to create a state-of-the-art indigenous re-enactment. The nightly Rotorua Maori cultural event features arts, craft, song, performing arts and traditional Maori feast.
