|
Join Tamaki Heritage Experiences in Christchurch, 1818 AD. Sit back and enjoy as you experience the art of Maori storytelling and cultural education, combined to create a Maori cultural experience to rival all others.
Prologue
In Christchurch 1818 AD, musket wars have gripped the country, new leaders have risen, a nation is divided, and a people have fallen. The possessions of the world have replaced the richness of a culture. Your cultural storyteller reappears for the most dramatic finale of an amazing story. It is here that east meets west, the old villages are abandoned, and Maori migrate to early pioneering towns and dwellings. Beliefs are challenged; education of a new way is introduced condemning the ways of old. Land becomes a position and its spiritual bind with the people is lost forever. Introduced sicknesses are taking the lives of many and the cries of the ancestors are long forgotten. Trams, old steam trains and historic buildings fill amazing sets.
Alike all Tamaki Heritage Experiences , Lost in our own Land (Christchurch), is based on a true story, with real characters, actual events and amazing re-enactments.
